Client and Server Patch Released

The new patch has been released and introduces the changes mentioned in the prior news post (See below). There are two new creatures for evil players to fight (Fairy and Walking Fungas). There are currently two fairy ring spawns where you will be able to find both creatures. One is at the top middle of wolven woods and the other is above the north west swamps.

There were also additional changes made to the server which are listed below:

  • Added new white magic spell called shield. You cannot purchase it at the scribe, the spell reduces the amount of damage taken by physical attacks up to 20% based on your white magic skill and faith. The duration the spell lasts is based on your meditation
  • An additional large room has been added to the level 1 crypts, we are still working on level 2. The new room should prove to be challenging for developed characters.
  • You now receive 4 placeable stat points each level instead of 3 (note leveling is harder every ten levels see last post)
  • Guards now carry platemail, gold and sword for loot.
  • Experience has been adjusted on several creatures
  • Bug Fix: An issue related to dragging an item and disconnecting which caused a server crash has been fixed.
  • Bug Fix: A bug allowing you to exploit the new weight system has been fixed. Dragging items ontop of other items will no longer ignore a weight check.
  • Bug Fix: There was a single female villager that was not marked as invulnerable that should of been and now is. (Killing her before caused a server crash).
  • Bug Fix: A null reference exception on the client that occasionally triggered when ever a player died has been fixed.
  • Bug Fix: Each level characters receive bonus stat points based on their class and allegiance. If you were at 100 stat points, the system allowed you to go over the limit off the bonus. This issue has been fixed.
  • Bug Fix: A collision check error allowing you to shoot threw a wall if you were on the platform in dragon head mines has been fixed.

No Maintenance Today & Coming Patch

The server will not be taken down today for its regularly scheduled maintenance. We are still preparing the next patch. The next patch will contain the following changes and additions:

  • The poisoning skill will be implemented for the Dark Ranger character.
    • Any weapon with a blade (arrows included) and food will be able to be poisoned.
    • The chance to successfully poison a blade will be based on your skill, the item, your faith stat, and the strength of the poison you are applying. The higher the strength the harder to poison an item.
    • To use higher strength poison potions requires that your character have higher knowledge.
    • Poison can be applied using a poison potion and if you are poisoning weapons, a poisoning cloth.
    • All poisonable items will require that your skill is at a certain level, if your skill is not at that level then you will not be able to poison the item (note this will not consume a use of the poison potion). The amount you are above the required skill will improve your chances to poison the item.
    • Some weapons like arrows will half the poison strength applied to help balance the skill.
    • The number of poison charges applied will be based on your knowledge stat.
    • The poison skill also increases the chance to poison an opponent in combat.
    • Having high Strength and high strength can help reduce a players chance of being poisoned.
  • Leveling will become gradually harder for every 10 levels you gain from your 1st. Currently levels are linear in the way required experience multiplies, while the new algorithm is still linear, there is an additional multiplier applied for each 10 levels to increase the required experience.
  • Additional Creatures will be available for evil based characters to fight, currently there are only Guards. Next release we will be adding multiple spawning locations and 2 - 3 more new creature types for evil players to fight. This number will continue to grow as we have more releases....
  • Ghosts will become slightly harder, with slightly more HP and MP.
  • Meditation will now help reduce casting times of spells

 


0.9.8b & More Changes Last Night

There were a number of changes implemented on the server last night below is a summary of changes:

  • While you are in "New Player" status you will not lose your equipment or inventory items. (You have the new player status while you are below level 7, after this items are left on your corpse)
  • Item decay time is now longer, Corpses and objects placed on the ground will decay 15 minutes from the time they were placed on the ground. If the item is picked up again then the counter is reset...
  • The weight system was completely revamped. Containers by themselves do not have a limit, however you are stil limited by the weight that you can carry with you.
  • Containers now have limits on the number of items they can hold. You can find out how many items are in the container and how many it can hold by clicking on the container. (Note pileable items only count as 1 per pile)
  • Your bank can now hold 500 items (Again pileable items only count as 1 item per pile. There is no longer a weight limit on. You can click on any bank box to find out how much room is left.
  • Spells in general will be easier to cast. At the minimum required skill you start with a 10% chance to successfully cast it rather than 5%.
  • The Wizard's starting spells should all be easier to cast.
  • Bugfix: automatic attacking should be more consistant and reliable when a creature attacks you unless you are already attacking another target.
  • Bugfix: Aggressive spells can no longer target players who are your same allegiance.

Client 0.9.8b added two minor fixes:

  1. Bug fix: Other players should move more smoothly, any character bounces you may have seen before were due to an issue with the movement buffer. (You may not of even noticed this before)
  2. Bug fix: Your screen will no longer scroll with "You cannot move." when you are paralyzed and try to run.

Client 0.9.8c will be released this evening for one bug fix:

  1. Bug fix: When you split a pile or drop one pile on another, if the pile graphic changes it causes the pile to move to another location in your pack which can be annoying. This issue will be fixed in 0.9.8c
