The new patch has been succesfully applied to the server.

In addition to the changes below for tonight's patch spell damage was also increased for many of the magic spells, especially for the wizard, to try to make starting out a little bit easier.


Line of Sight & Auto Targeting Patch Tonight

The following changes will occur in a patch we are planning to release tonight... The server will go down for just a short time (< 20 minutes) to apply the changes. All data will be saved just befor it is taken down.

  • Bugfix: Line of site and projectile resolution will be much more accurate (especially when evaluations are done between two different z's). Under the old algorithm walls could be ignored when an origin and destination target were on two different  z points. Under the new alogirthm this has been fixed to be more realistic evalation. Additionally accuracy on the same z was also improved by averaging the x and y range to provide an evaluation in a straight line.
  • Creatures should now be more intelligent, if the target they are after is out of their attack range in a few seconds, they will choose a closer target if one is available.
  • Auto attacking by players will now choose the closest target immediatly after your current attack target is slain, rather than a random target in your line of sight. 

 


Upgrade Released

The new upgrade has been released. The upgrade introduces a new level to the crypt three new creatures, and three new spells. We apologize for the delay in the release but we would rather have a quality release than a quick release. Below details all changes that were made for this release:

  • Attack speed was capped at 1.7 seconds a swing. At extremely high stamina characters were swinging at roughly 0.5 - 0.7 seconds which was far to fast.
  • You can no longer target a creature through a wall to attack.
  • The delay before casting a spell has been slightly increased. Meditation can help reduce this.
  • A Character's Strength influence on combat damage  was slightly decreased to further control damage dealt at extremely high levels. (Note this change may only be noticed at high levels by a few damage points)
  •  The HP system was tweaked you may find your character having a few more or a few less HP based on your level and stats. The system needed to be tweaked to support temporary stat change system.
  • The temporary status change system was implemented which allows for other modifiers to effect your stat points, such as spells, potions, weapons, or armor etc... Currently one of the new spells utilize this. In the future magic weapons will also utilize this.
  • The new spells released include the following:
    • Dark Bolt: A very powerful lightning bolt that utilizes dark energy and the black magic skill.
    • Curse: Temporarily reduces an opponents stats and effects hp, mp, sp as well as attack speed, chance to hit, and damage dealt. (Necromancy)
    • Drain Life: Deals damage to an opponent and the caster gains a percentage of the damage dealt. (Necromancy)
  • The new creatures include the following:
    • Devourer: A very strong zombie with high HP and can cause you to become ill with poison if he hits you/
    • Dark Rock Magi: A skeleton mage with high HP, whos bones are infused with dark rock giving him the ability to cast strong spells.
    • Reaper of Souls: A new variant of Keeper of the Dead, extremely powerful in both physical attacks, HP and spells.
  • All new creatures can be found on level 2 of the crypt. There are two entrances to the crypt, You will need to find them though :-) that is all part of the fun... (One can be revealed by a hidden switch somewhere on level 1 of the crypt.)

This patch is designed to make the game a little more challenging for higher leveled characters.

Additionally, progress has been made on our forums (about 25% complete) and designing the new game menu. Below is a preview of the new layout that can be expected to be released in the next few weeks. The new layout features the following:

  • 15% more viewable play area and larger minimap
  • Hunger, weight and experience status bars
  • ability to paste text in type textbox
  • Alternate weapon slot on the equipment doll (that can be swapped via hot key/button, or auto equipped on weapon break)
  • A new amulet slot on the equipment doll
  • Pack/Satchel slot will be taken off the doll and made a button next to the map. (you will no longer be able to unequip your entire pack which was rarely useful)
  • Buttons for attacking/clear attacking, transparency, and life bar toggling. This is designed to make game a little easier for new players who may not want to set hot keys right away.
  • cleaner more streamlined interface
