Ok... seems pretty standard.

I will put together a special debug client for you and we will see if we can get it figured out for you. Sorry for the inconvenience. No other access to another computer then?

Did it fail at a specific verson or patch number? Do you recall? Or did it finish patching as far as you could tell?

Also what version of Windows are you running? What country are you connecting from? Do you own another PC to try installing it on (see if we experience the same issue).

Installs have been pretty smooth so far, early on we did run into some internationalization issues with time parsing but those issues have been resolved.

Try this as a work around until I can get a debug client for you to test:
 
Create a shortcut on your desktop the target should be -> c:\program files (X86)\Fantasy Realm Online\FROClient.exe
 
click next through the short cut wizard...
 
1. After the shortcut is created right click on it and go to properties.
 
2. Click advanced button at the bottom of the shortcut properties. and select run as administrator (this is very important, content must be saved to program files and not the virtual store).
3. In the target text box append the following:
 "Moon Haven" http://patching.fantasyrealmonline.com/fro/moonhaven/manifest.xml game.fantasyrealmonline.com:2222
 
so that your target should look something like so: (Note this all goes on one line.
 
"c:\program files (X86)\Fantasy Realm Online\FROClient.exe" "Moon Haven" http://patching.fantasyrealmonline.com/fro/moonhaven/manifest.xml game.fantasyrealmonline.com:2222
 
4. Click apply/ok...
 
5. Launch the game from the new shortcut, this will directly connect to our game server
This will completely bypass the realm browser and allow you to play the game for now... I recommend you run the regular shortcut before play every time to make sure you have the latest client. this is our work around for now, we should work at solving your other problem but I do not want to hold you up to much.

Lol, well it skipped everything like you said but then it still did the same thing. Usually I don't have this much trouble installing and playing a game. I know I put the target in just as you did because the first time it wasn't right and wouldn't let me continue. So after a couple of times of re copy/pasing it i hit apply and it went through. I will keep messing around with that last bit of info you gave me and see if I can get this thing rolling.

Again I apologize,the only other time I have seeen a similar problem to this is if you had an old version installed a long time ago and you installed the new version without reinstalling the old one first. I am not sure if you had tried the the older version of the game a couple years back or so??

Having the same issue as described above. Have tried deleting the moon~ folder and also creating the desktop icon while running as admin. Neither option has fixed the issue. Anyone have any ideas?

Can you right click on FROClient.exe and click properties...Tell me the version under data.

Secondly does patching start with the black screen and FRO Logo on it? If patching does start what version do you make it to before it fails.

Version number is 1.3.7.0

It supposably finishes the pre-patch but then the error pops up after clicking the play button before the login screen loads.

 

Edit: Just deleted and reinstalled for the 3rd time and it has finally started patching, will update this to let you know if the issue has somehow been resolved.

Edit #2: It finished patching but now a new error has occured. It is saying to download the new version 0.9.8.0 (which is what I have). I checked under the properties tab and verified that it is the correct version. I tried running the patcher also, which unfortunately did not fix the issue.

I am not sure how you are starting the game... Hopefully from the start menu via shortcut and not launching the FROClient.exe directly. The FROClientPatcher should always be used to launch the game. The "pre-patch" is nessecary to update the client exe to the latest vesion to the latest version. The fact your seeing the 0.9.8 message tells me that the client is not patched up some how... 

Are you running any anti-virus software that might prevent the patching...?

If you try the uninstall route then you should also make sure the Fantasy Realm Online directory is deleted after the uninstall. I hope we can figure out what the issue is with your loadset Id like to have a solution for future players,
