It seems that all the trees I cut, there is nothing to do with the wood. It can't be sold nor is there any place to cut it up into sellable items nor can I complete the mining quests when I bought a copper dagger to get some experience points. Is Merchant skill supposed to be this difficult?

Some blacksmithy items require wood such as crafting axes... Carpentry is only partially implemented as an associate skill to blacksmithy right now. Blacksmithy/Mining are the primary skills implemented for the merchant right now. No the merchant character shouldnt be too difficult to start
