Title: Bugs/Mistypes

I'm rather new to this community but over time I hope to make a large impact on the development of this game. Thus; I will be as picky as I've ever been with a game to insure FRO has a successful release. :)

 

Here's what I've found so far.

 

Green = Explained/Fixed

Orange = Acknowledged

Red = New Issue

Purple = Date

 

        1.  (12-20-11) Choosing a class, screen mistypes. (Acknowledged)

  • I found that on the character selection screen there were too many spaces between "blades" and "to" as well as "his" and "ability". These mistypes as located in the Rogue class.

        2.  (12-20-11) Certain popups that you can't close. (Functionality explained)

  • From what I've seen you can't close the spellbook popup, the quest log, or your inventory. They just stay open and they only way to get rid of them is to move them to the side of the screen. This issue can be fixed by right clicking the box.

        3.  (12-20-11) Layered clothing. (Problem explained)

  • I recently had leather armour on and when I went to equip a robe, it just put the robe on over the leather armour without removing the leather armour. This problem was explained. The robes were clothing, not armour and thus were allowed to go over the armour.

        4.  (12-20-11) The Rat Infestation Quest - Bug. (Acknowledged)

  • I noticed that in my quest log it showed that the quest was completed before I even entered the cellar. 

        5.  (12-21-11) The angels in the "gates of heaven". (Acknowledged)

  • When I logged in I noticed that all the angels were flapping their wings violently. After further review I found that they were stuck next to the pillars. However after about 20 seconds or so they managed to get unstuck and continued to fly normally. 

        6.  (12-21-11) Dying when you're already dead. (Problem explained)

  • I was just curious as to what would happen if you were to die from hunger in the "gates of heaven". Ultimately I died again and it just respawned me in the entrance like before. It doesn't make much sense to die from hunger when you're already dead. However this was meant to be and was explained in detail.

        7.  (12-21-11) Sword fighting mistype. (Acknowledged)

  • When reading the description for sword fighting this is what shows up:

This skill gives your character the ability to equip swords. The higher the skill the better chance to hit your opponent a sword.

This is my suggestion:

This skill gives your character the ability to equip swords. The higher the skill(comma) the better chance to hit your opponent with a sword.

        8.  (12-21-11) Throwing mistype. (Acknowledged)

  • When reading the description for throwing this is what shows up:

Allows your character to throw weapons at other characters and object. Incresing the skill raises your chance to hit your opponent with a thrown weapon. Some throwing weapons may require higher throwing skill.

This is my suggestion:

        9.  (12-22-11) Playing the game after the recent patch. (Fixed)

  • After the recent patch the game fails to load after clicking on the icon on my desktop. This issue was quickly fixed.

        10.  (12-22-11) Another error related to the recent patch. (Issue explained)

  • This was simply an error that I encountered while uninstalling and installing the game

        11.  (12-23-11) The rate in which bodies disappear. (Issue explained)

  • I recently noticed that bodies tend to not disappear for a long period of time, thus creating a large pile of dead bodies. It was found that this was intentional, as some battles may be rather lengthy. This gives you some extra time to claim the loot.

        12.  (12-23-11) 2 npcs with the same name. (Issue explained)

  • In Brimstone, 2 npcs seem to have the same name. A guard near the southern entrance of the town has the name: "Aelfraed", and the shopowner who is located in the store in front of the castle looking building, in the northern part of the town also has the name "Aelfraed". It was explained that sometimes npcs may have the same name. The names are selected from a large pool of names.

        13.  (12-25-11) "Info" button not functioning correctly.

  • In the church south of the village of Dragon Head, I tried unquiped my staff to see what enhancements were available. After seeing that "cleanse" was the only option I decided to click "Info", only to find that it doesn't work. I know that you can see information on the weapon by doing Shift - Right Click, but still, the info button for that npc is broken.
  • I was using a Wizard's Staff of Magic if that helps.
  • I did some looking around and another shop didn't provide an "Info" option for the weapon. I'm assuming it's just the weapon that's bugged and not the npc.

        14.  (12-25-11) The ability to attack yourself.

  • This may seem a little minute but I can see it becoming a problem in the future. I was casting spells on an enemy that was behind me and I accidently casted it on myself. A warning popped up saying "You're being attacked by Insanity!".

Even though I have already addressed these in the game with you, for everyone elses benefit as well:

  1. I will look into the extra spacing issues
  2. Right clicking on the listed popups will close them.
  3. Regular robes do not count towards armor, they are considered clothing and provide visual customization to your character. Wizard's robes do however count towards torso armor when you find one later in the game.
  4. We will look into the reported issue.

#5. I am aware of this issue, they are not acctually stuck, there is another timing issue with when they appear on the screen and their animation still speed being set. This will eventually be fixed however it is a lower priority right now

#6. You wont/shouldnt starve while your dead, howver you can be in heaven with a new body in which case you can starve over again and die. Were considering making it so you dont starve in certain areas.

#7. I will be fixing typos as we go. thanks for pointing these out.

that should be fixed now... sorry about that it looks like it was just a typo in the patch date, the patcher couldnt parse it. :/

hrmm I think if you uninstalled or deleted all the patches this may have caused this issue because the client patch records were still left after uninstall and you reinstalled old files... the settings dll likely was replaced with an older version delete the c:\program files\fantasy realm online\patches folder and then rerun the game, allowing the client patches to be reinstalled. Note you wont have to repatch the content just the client files.

Hello,

 

11. This is not a bug, in larger battles you will find yourself unable to loot corpses immediately so the game allows for ~15 minutes to loot a corpse before it decays.

12. This is also not a bug, Npcs may rarely get assigned the same name in the same area. Just as a neighbor of mine may also have the same name as me... Most Npcs are assigned a name from a random pool of several hundred names
