Title: Alignment based skill limits?

Noticed somewhere it said that Dark Rangers can poison food, like Good rangers couldnt? But right now every can. But i think its a neat idea if alignment did things to your class skills. Like, knights using poison is rediculous, especially 'Good' knights. Maybe only Evil knights could use poison (then maybe we'd get some evil knights!) Dark ?Knight could gain +10 to swords or axes and Good knight could gain +10 to shield or armor, stuff like that.

Then skills like Healing could be reduced on people who go evil. Just doesnt make a lot of sense that a Good and Evil version of a class would retain the same skills !

Khor,

That is why we implemented Good/Evil skills to begin with. Poison was likely originally an evil skill a long long time ago but there was also half the number of skills in the game and it was changed when we performed a skill refactoring. I think poisoning is a neutral skill.

The other idea of giving bonuses isn't bad. Needs refined.

You said the knight is like a Paladin, correct? Now picture a paladin poisoning his blade like a rogue. Exactly. Neutral knight? Sure, Neutral should have some perks.

I would just assume take poisoning out of the knight skill list altogether. I dont think they even have much.

I think they have 50? The thing with poison is, thats all you might need. Since they can use the strongest poison regardless of skill, having it at all makes a big difference. Really seems like poison ranks should be skill locked.

I don't understand how any type of skill can be classified as good or evil.  Shooting a lightning bolt and or a poison cloud both are acts of aggression: EVIL yet one is a GOOD skill.  strange to me that we can't just make all skills nuetral and let the character decide how evil/good he or she wants to play it out.

Poisoning food and then giving it to another player = evil

Poisioning / preppring poison on arrows is just a neutral act of damage anhancement.  Nothing good or evil about it.

I'm worried that as the game gets more comlex, the GOOD/EVIL is just going to make even less sense and be avoided altogether or conflicting when players want skilsls from both sides (hybrid skill based motivations).

Its good or evil because the Holy/Evil gods give you the spells, i think. You talk to a dark priest to convert to evil to learn evil magic.

I think the same as purity, even if now we have this system I really would like to have more freedom. Before the evil/good skill I would talk about the class system in itself, why should we play determined class; let us choose what we want to be in total freedom! For example, I wonder why A smith can t be a warrior too, maybe he was a smith in the past but an orc killed his family and now he seeks revenge with is hammer. Another ex, I could be a rogue that has some skill in alchemy( actually a rogue has to buy or find poison pot  to use it).

Do not misunderstand me, I like this game but if I could do the things that I just said, this game really really would make me addicted to it, imho.
