Yes!!!!!!!! Yes it would dammit =P
If you are asking if crafted armor should be enchantable- I think it should. Totally. Without doubt. Hands down.
Crafted Armor should (in my humble opinion) be capable of being potentially better than anything "dropped" at a standard rate. The time it takes to mine enough gems and gain a crafting skill high enough to make Rare metal armor (including Platinum, I guess) is far more effort than grinding a mob for a drop (and your not really gaining XP wile gathering crafting mats)-
Its like our trip to the Dragon and how quickly I died (three hits) wearing Emerald Plat armor (and having all defense skills maxed) vs the fact that you could nearly tank him at half my level and with dropped armor due to an enchantment on your armor. Personally it has made the time and effort put into high level crafting seem to only be viable for Money and Arrows and certain other basic items... there should be a way to at the very least gain the same enchantments somehow that are found on armor dropped from Zombies and such.
That said, I still need to test ruby armor and see what it does in comparison.
Right now I have a new pair of contact lenses and when playing any game I am getting a splitting headache within a short time- Therefore I wont be close enough to having the rubies to make a set until they get me a new pair made (or this weekend when I will just take them out and stare at the screen from an inch away) =D
-Also, like everything else, this is a work in progress and Chris is adding things all the time in the order of importance and with what time he has. So, just because armor/weapons are not enchantable ATM does not mean they will stay that way forever.

To confirm your assumptions enchantment will be a skill in the future for merchant class. Ill save the details for another day though.

Ahhhhhh- I see.
I thought you meant something totally different.
You will need a crafter who can work with Plat to repair/fortify/sharpen anything made with plat (enchanted or not)-

That is correct to fortify or sharpen platinum weapons you need to find or make a player crafter.

I thought the blacksmith merchant in ironforge was high enough to sharpen platinum weapons... maybe I had a quicksilver or something if they can't.
