I think it would be a great idea if in the "character selection list window" before you login to thegame you could click each of the character you made and in the "blank space to the right"  all the stat quantitties and skill percentages would show up for all the skills you placed points in.  This way the player can first figure out which chracter he or she wants to play before they login and don't have to guess which character had certain stats, level, equipment and the such. 

The login and character selection/creation screens will be getting a complete revamp after the new character artwork is in the game and yes you will be able to "preview" your character before logging in. originally that is what the blank space on the right was intended for but the screens are far outdated.

New creation screens will include male/female selection, skin color, hair style/color, and facial hair style/color selections. in addition skill selections and stat assignment will be more open in the new character builder as well as additional useful information.

The current menus were really designed to provide a quick start for early BETA.
