I am interested in helping out.

When I noticed that http://www.fro.wikia.com was taken over by another group I started a new one at http://www.fromh.wikia.com (for those who don't recognise the acronym it is: Fantasy Realm Online Moon Haven).

I just looked at the Players Guide and saw the comment on the top about contributing (face palm). I didn't notice that before.

Title: Re: Wiki - Help, Contribute!

I am not a big fan of getting a spreadsheet with every weapon's stats for every material that it can be crafted out of and the skill levels it takes to do it. I think that if you are going to craft then you are going to figure it out. The same thing with monsters; I don't want to make a spreadsheet of all the Mobs with health, attack, defence, and other stats. If you are going to go fight monsters then you are going to learn from trial and error what areas you can handle at what levels with what equipment.

I do like doing a few artistic type things like stitching together a somewhat useful map from screenshots of the world map. I don't want to label every little detail but it is nice share something with others (especially newer players) so that they know which way to run when they get in over there heads. I like to fill in the gaps between what is said in the storyline and what my character actually is or does.

For instance I find it hillarious that I play a rouge from the den of thieves and I start out on the Dragonhead docks where I apparently just arrived from another kingdom in order to help out Brimstone. Why didn't I just walk or ride a horse? Was I laying low in another realm when I finally decided to come back and help the land I love. . . to plunder?  Or did I simply decide that if anyone was going to lay waste to Moon Haven that it would be me and my brigand buddie instead of some undead/devil sissies?

So anyways I started a wiki at:

http://www.fromh.wikia.com

Where I plan to share my maps and the storyline with others. One reason I went with wikia.com over posting more maps and stuff to the forums is that I just feel more used to wikia.

This is a great game. I really appreciate Chris the Avatar and everyone else who supports this game by playing it, paying for it, or developing it.

Now thats a good point. I wll see what i can help with on the wikia. I'm not to much for getting stuff together. I usally end up doing something else. I did try to get a loot table on griffins, but yeah thats pretty hard, you never know what weapons/armor u get anyway. But i'll try to help out :)

Thanks! Here is what I was planning to work on:

  • Maps with general place names
  • Presenting the storyline
  • a list of crafting materials so that players no what is out there for example the different types of ores and the combinations it takes to make different alloys (but not details such as here is the best place to get platinum) and the same goes for lumber etc
  • a list of weapons such as x,y, and z are faster; a,b, and c are stronger; m, n, and p are ranged or can be thrown

Just general stuff to point people in the right direction but not spoil everything. For instance on the wikia

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5ArnnPA6GPaaHlydnNGTXdMMzQ/view

I have a map of Dragonhead Village with the shops, player housing, and a few places of interest labeled. I have a similar map for all of the towns. So if you are looking for a house you can go and look at the maps and see in general how many houses are in which towns and what ammeneties each town offers. But you still have to go look at what the house actually looks like. But I am not planning on posting screen shots of every house with a spread sheet listing the number of floors, rooms, and lockdowns.

Point people in the right direction for what they are looking for so that they can get to the things they want to explore more.

I am not against reposting some of the information that others have already provided in a more organized manner. I copied and posted a quote from Chris on the wikia home page as well as the "About" section from this website. Some of the stuff posted in the players helping players section of this forum is good stuff but needs (in my opinion) to be put in an easier to use/find format and that is where I think the wikia would come in handy. I think I will start a seperate thread in the player provided information section about this.
