What type of video card are you running? what is your cpu? It would help me optimize if I knew exactly what the source of the issue is. type /fps true... stand still in the city what is your frame rate.Then walk/run, is it a choppy lag or is it more like your guy is running in slow motion?
yes it looks like my guy is running in slow motion.

You can type /fps true to find out what your frames per second is... 60 is perfect; let me know what your getting.
Ok I think that client update 1.6.1 will really help with your computer, we rewrote the mini-map rendering system and also released a new underlying rendering library. The changes on our older laptop we use for testing went from 25/30 fps to a solid 60 in most places in the game.
