I'm under the impression the different types of armor such as Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald Platinum give elemental protections aswell as the physical protections, but when at the blacksmith it doesnt show any type of resistences added. My question is does it add the resistences and just not show it? or am I mistaken and it just adds color to the armor while just being as strong as platinum.

 

After comparing a piece made of each type of platinum, I do see that they have minor increases in the physical resistences, but I'm still wondering if they have any elemental resistences such as fire, cold, and poison. If not, am I going to have to wait till Enchanting is implemented till I can add resistences to stuff?

I believe only dragon scale armor gains resistances depending on what dragon scale you use, it's also not that much compaired to the items you can find though.
