I've a quest to escort a smith npc to another town.I can get a green square and the msg "select a target or place to move npc to." but on clicking a spot I am unable to get a response from the smith( he still moves about randomly). He is upstairs in a bldg making movement hell,I am now lost  as to what to do. Any help Pls?

He will follow you by default.... You dont need to direct him manually to a different tile. If you do he should move to that tile, however you can make him follow you again by double clicking him and clicking your character. Then he will walk slowly but follow you.. so just walk to the small town.
