Something I am fond of in single player rpgs that I would like to bring to the MMORPG environment are more meaning ful "quests" or things that may permanantly impact your character. One area that I thought would be neat is trials for each character class in which you can earn a title and membership into a unique group. While this idea is still in its infancy, here is an example
Perhaps if you are a knight class character you could go talk with the king of Brimstone and he would allow you to become a knight of brimstone by taking a trial to test your bravery. So in this trial you are stripped of your equipment and given only a sword and you must defeat a series of enemies and solve a series of puzzles... ? Each trial for each character class would be unique along with good/evil variations.
More important quests sounds cool. I like when I have a lot of tasks. What about trials? Very nice idea. I would like to take part in such thing.
It's kind a achievement style in MMORPG, each trail you would do could give you more positive influance in the game.
That is kind of the goal we are going for. It is an acheivement that will some how impact your character in different ways, such as an new maximum skill can be aquired or a new max status, along with titles which may open up more quests and side stories for your character to participate in.
I like this idea all around, as long as you can find ways to do it for all the classes/alignments
