Title: Stores closing at night?
|
|
Would you like to see store vendors lockup and night and not sell goods? The banking vendor would be excluded? While this really enhances the flavor of the game, one concern we have is your time. We realize that you may not have time to wait till morning in the game for shops to open. So were looking for your feedback on this one.

Hmm... Interesting idea but I don't think it's a good way. If i want to sell/buy something, I don't want to wait. If NPCs don't want to work so hard maybe they should work for shifts?

Boothy this would be in terms of game time... its about 40 minutes of night for any day...
The goal here is to seperate more functions into day/night along with enhancing flavor. Flaymor, your statement seems common of people I have presented to players. So maybe approaching it from a different angle might help.

Although this sounds like a cool idea in theory people come from different time zones which may make it difficult to access certain shops if the time in which it is open is inconvenient to them. Instead of making vendors completely inaccessible during certain times maybe it would be better to have discounts on certain items during certain times of the day. A mixture of discounted items at both day and night would ensure that everybody can benefit from the system.

I like the idea stores closing at night would be pretty cool but you should also put some stores that would only be open at night too.

-I am totally on board with this idea.
As has been stated, some shops would obviously be open at night (the INN) but the realism this would bring (even at the cost of some convienience) would be well worth it. When we have a bigger population this would give the Theives more prey at night as people wait around with their goods to sell or gold to buy. Could be very cool and make preparation and the town you do buisness in much more important.

People are talking in terms of convience vs realism, but honestly I think this should be added in for another reason.
What reason? An increase in player transactions. A merchant could stock up on stuff (either by buying it from a shop or making it/buying from another player) and use that time that the shops are unavailable to sell the items for profit. Do you want to buy that item for slightly more from a player merchant, or wait the 40 minutes until the shop is back open?
Personally, I would like for more stuff like that, that puts people in a position where buying from a player (even if it's an item you could buy from an NPC for cheaper) is the usual method of things.
My opinion on it, anyways.
