Title: Display Problem

The game patched fine. When I hit play the window opens and there is a white box surrounded by black. No text or graphics. After a short time I get a black screen with a white square that moves with the cursor. That flashes for a couple of seconds and then the screen is white. I've left it there for some time and nothing happens. I poked around the forum but found no solution to this problem. Please help.

Make sure you have correct/latest video drivers installed for your computer. This is the most common cause of this.

Here is another user's suggestion with your same problem:

Another user uninstalled and reinstalled their video drivers

Unfortunately when individuals solve this issue I ask that they put the solution online to help everyone but no one ever does... So details are not as many as they could be.

Solved it.  I have Radeon HD4290 built in to my motherboard. Windows installed WDDM v1.1 as my driver. Using ATI Catalyst software was useless for me since it never replaced the WDDM v1.1 driver with the ATI driver. I had to manually change the driver.

If you have an ATI video card and have this problem, download the correct catalyst version, let it extract to the default AMD folder. Go to your video card in device manager, manually update the driver from the AMD folder on your C: drive where Catalyst extracted. Worked for me.
