System installs and runs patcher without issues, once patches are complete, click play and it says new patcher installed restart launcher. After that it will not launch at all and at terminal do ./launch.sh and it just sits there no output.

 

Ok installed mon-complete here and no get that it is missing libgluezilla so will install and see what happens.

The news tab should just disable itself if you do not have gluzilla installed. See if mono will spit out anything useful with the debug argument. I apologize this isnt easier for you; I have had some linux machines its went right on with hardly any issues and some i have spent a few hours getting it to work.

We think we have tracked this down. what I would like to do if it's alright with you? Is get people running linux to give specs and OS/Desktop and video listings. That way we can narrow it down. With the Xubuntu fix you posted I get the SDL error to go away it now just closes the same as it does on Xubuntu if I run the client not the patcher as you told us to do in the launch.sh file. So same issue on OpenSuse 13.1 as on Xubuntu 13.04 both 64bit. Well except OpenSuse will not run the new patcher. It patches through the client or it said it did. Here is strace info

Yeah i think this is a great idea.

The patch mechanism that is internal to the client was how we used to apply content patches... it still technically works but your going to need to get the latest exe patches which can only be got by running the FROClientPatcher.exe.

Let me know what else you can find out. I really believe its going to be a config/setup issue rather than a code issue but if there is a clear code change I can make to have life be easier I will certainly do it.
